Meet the Q-Gen team

Dr Balaji Somasundaram was appointed to the position of General Manager, Q-Gen with QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute commenced on Tuesday 7th October 2025.

Dr Somasundaram is a biotech executive with over 15 years of experience in biomanufacturing, CDMO operations, and regulatory strategy. He has led vaccine development programs, overseen GMP-compliant manufacturing, and managed strategic partnerships with government, industry and academic institutions.

His leadership has driven operational excellence, secured multimillion-dollar revenue, and earned multiple awards. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and is known for translating scientific innovation into commercial and clinical impact.

Dario has been with Q-Gen Cell Therapeutics for almost 4 years.

Dario has more than 15 years’ experience in biotechnology, working across several biotech companies and translational medical research projects.

Lucas has worked at Q-Gen for 2.5 years, with an overall 7 years GMP management experience.

Liesel has worked at Q-Gen for the last 7 years, with an overall 8 years experience in clinical translational research. In addition, Liesel has a PhD and gained 5 years of post postdoctoral research experience within the fields of infection and immunity.

Suzannah has been been at Q-Gen since April 2025. She has worked in the health care for over 16 years. As a Registered Nurse with over a decade of Oncology and Haematology experience across major hospitals in Brisbane and Sydney, supported by a Master of Nursing.
