17% of Australians experiencing an anxiety disorder in the last 12 months

Anxiety Disorders are common mental health conditions involving intense feelings of worry or distress that are difficult to control. These disorders impact almost 1 in 3 Australians during their lifetime.

The Living with Anxiety (LwA) Study is a nation-wide research study run by Professor Sarah Medland in the Psychiatric Genetics group at QIMR Berghofer. The LwA Study aims to recruit at least 5,000 adults with lived experience of an Anxiety disorder to help researchers understand the genetic and environmental factors that increase a person’s risk of developing an Anxiety disorder and also the genetic factors that influence how well, or poorly, a person responds to treatment.
