About
I completed my BSc (Special) degree (2011-2015) at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and MPhil degree (2020-2022) at Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka in Statistics. After gaining two years of experience as a Lecturer in Statistics and three years as a Statistical programmer and a Statistical Officer in Sri Lanka, I started my PhD in 2023 through University of Queensland and QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.
My PhD project is focusing on identifying novel genetic risk loci associated with melanoma and its major risk factors such as nevus count using large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS) and investigating potential functional targets for melanoma and nevus development by integrating several post-GWAS approaches.
I have a strong background in Statistics and my passion is for utilizing my statistical expertise to advance discovery and contribute to human well-being. I am committed to learning new things and enjoy communicating my findings effectively to the global research community.
