International Women's Day 2026
Level 6 Bancroft Auditorium, QIMR Berghofer, 300 Herston Road, Herston
Join us for a special International Women’s Day event featuring guest speaker Lisa Curry AO - triple Olympian, keynote speaker, best-selling author, company director and ambassador of QIMR Berghofer’s Eating Disorders and Genetics Initiative (EDGI2 Study).
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is Balance the Scales, highlighting the urgent need to ensure fair, inclusive, and accessible justice for every woman and girl.
Lisa is one of Australia’s most celebrated swimmers and Olympians, representing the nation across the Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship stages during a trailblazing career in the 1980s. Her impact extends far beyond sport – through her leadership, advocacy and lived experience, she has championed women’s health and community wellbeing for decades.
Lisa will speak about her personal connection to the EDGI2 Study after her beloved daughter, Jaimi, passed away from an eating disorder in 2020. QIMR Berghofer researchers are currently working to identify genes that make a person susceptible to eating disorders – to ultimately improve treatments and save lives.
Join us for an inspiring event celebrating women’s contributions to research and the collective impact we can have on tangible health and wellbeing outcomes.
