Join us for a special event featuring Professor Fiona Wood AO, pioneering Australian surgeon, researcher, and inventor of the revolutionary spray-on skin technique that has saved countless lives.

Fiona will share her experiences in transforming research into tangible action, focusing on her work in burn care, the 2002 Bali bombings, and how technology is shaping the future of medicine. She will speak to the importance of mentorship and leadership in inspiring bold, decisive action towards gender equality.

Fiona’s story is a testament to International Women’s Day theme of March Forward, as she continues to push the boundaries of science, medicine, and leadership to create a more inclusive future.

Winthrop Professor Fiona Wood AO, FRCS, FRACS

Fiona Wood is the Director of the Burns Service of Western Australia. She is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Fiona Stanley Hospital and Perth Children's Hospital; Winthrop Professor in the School of Surgery at The University of Western Australia; and co-founder of the Fiona Wood Foundation.

Fiona was named an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2024, Premier’s Science Hall of Fame Inductee 2024, Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2003. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science and is recognised for her outstanding and enduring contributions as a highly skilled plastic and reconstructive surgeon, world-leading burns specialist and pioneering research and translation in burns care.
