About

Shenyu Chen is a PhD Student at the Functional Cancer Genomics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer

Shenyu did his undergraduate studies in Pharmacology at the China Pharmaceutical University (China, 2017-2021), and his master’s degree at Karolinska Institute studying toxicology (Sweden, 2021-2023). After finishing his master project in the Helleday's lab, he found his interest in the field of cancer therapy. Then, he moved to Brisbane and started his PhD at QIMR Berghofer and the University of Queensland under the supervision of Prof. Stacey Edwards and Prof. Juliet French. His project aims to connect long noncoding RNAs to improve drug response in the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Research Skills

Cell biology, drug test, CRISPR editing, protein biochemistry, Animal models, long noncoding RNAs, DNA repair therapies.

Area of Interest

Understanding how lncRNAs influence drug response in ovarian cancer could offer new therapeutic avenues to overcome PARPi resistance and improve patient outcomes.
