About
Pramila joined the Lung inflammation and infection group at QIMRB in 2016 after completing her PhD at The National University of Malaysia, where she investigated protein signaling and inflammatory responses during Burkholderia pseudomallei respiratory infection. Using her knowledge of the airway milieu, she now focuses on the role of iron in cystic fibrosis (CF), and was one of the first to publish on the role of iron-induced cell death and oxidative stress in the CF airway epithelium.
Pramila's work also includes investigating iron homeostasis in CF patients using various CFTR treatments and the effectiveness of triple therapy (ETI) on disease progression.
Area of Interest
- Investigating iron dysregulation in chronic lung diseases including CF and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Investigating iron mediated oxidative response in CF
