A/Prof Mark Hodson is a biochemist and an expert in metabolomics and biomarker discovery, and joined QIMR Berghofer in March 2023. He attained a doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge, and has been actively engaged in NMR- and MS-based metabolomics and omics/biomarker-based research, consultancy and management since 2000. He has held several positions of expertise and management responsibility, working in roles within industry (GlaxoSmithKline), biotech (Biocrates), academia (UQ, VCCRI, QIMR Berghofer), and as a consultant (MetaPro). He has been an investigator on research projects with funding totalling >$10M from the ARC, NHMRC, NCRIS/BPA and industry. He has supervised five conferred doctoral students and has published >60 peer-reviewed articles/book chapters (e.g. Science, PNAS, JCI). He has successfully delivered on several hundred collaborator/customer projects from diverse biological fields relating to plants, microbes, biomedical and food science, as well as veterinary and clinical medicine.
