About

Larissa Cassiano is a Research Assistant at the Functional Cancer Genomics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer.

BSc in Biological Sciences and MSc in Neuroscience. Pursued her PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology at UFMG-Brazil, studying the epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of innate immunity. In 2023, she was awarded a graduate fellowship at McGill Genome Centre, Canada, for training in bioinformatics and omics analysis. She joined QIMR Berghofer in 2024, where she is currently working on identifying highly mutated long noncoding RNAs in ovarian cancer and their role in cancer progression, using a combination of high-throughput and single-gene functional studies.

Research Skills

Molecular Biology, bioinformatics, gene regulation, epigenetics.

Area of Interest

Understanding the role of long noncoding RNAs in ovarian cancer emergence and drug resistance.
