About
Jane is a registered nurse with a career-long interest in melanoma. Jane acts as participant and project liaison, building and maintaining relationships with various specialist clinicians and pathologists, allied health professionals, Australian and international cancer registries. She oversees the ethics and governance of our multi-centre collaborative research projects. As research nurse, Jane’s role consists of recruiting participants, obtaining a broad variety of biological samples, maintaining sample and data quality control, collating and updating genotype, epidemiologic, environmental risk factors, as well as clinical and outcome information of our study participants. Jane’s core responsibility focuses on our diverse participant population at every stage of their involvement in our research, with communication, advocacy, trust and compassion. Due to the overwhelming participation rate amongst our melanoma patient community and their families this unique study cohort and its biospecimens repository has grown steadily; invaluable for the combination of genetic, family, individual and functional studies employed by Professor Hayward and his team.
