PhD Student
Isabela Almeida is a PhD Student at the Functional Genetics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer.
She completed her masters in Bioinformatics at the University of São Paulo (Brazil/2022). While completing her background in Biological Sciences at the State University of Paraíba (Brazil/2018), she was a visiting student at the Neurogenomics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer. She is now pursuing her PhD at QIMR Berghofer’s Cancer Program and The University of Queensland, studying long noncoding RNAs in ovarian cancer.
Research Skills
Short-read RNAseq, long-read RNAseq, post-GWAS, lncRNA discovery, de novo assembly, transcriptomics, differential expression, HiChIP, CRISPR screens.
Area of Interest
Understand the role of long noncoding RNAs in ovarian cancer development. Her research extends to identifying noncoding biomarkers for early diagnosis and investigating chemoresistance in ovarian cancer.
