About
Dr Adrian Wiegmans is a former field leader academic scientist investigating new novel clinical oncology diagnostics. Working closely with consumers he identified a need for rural patient support and consequently founded a charity. The charity is a consumer-led allied health initiative providing preventive care across rural Queensland.
With this experience in both academia and philanthropic spaces to deliver strategic and operational management for evidence-based services to underserved communities, Adrian is the new manager of the Centre for Tropical Health and Emerging Diseases.
He is coordinating new partnerships for the centre, creating a coordinated critical mass in Tropical Health across the Asia-Pacific region. The centre constitutes a Tropical Health core of expertise, and knowledge hub for disseminating innovative and evidence-based information for research, policy and programme formulation.
