David is a Scientific Technical Officer in the ADF MIDI laboratory. David transitioned into laboratory science in 2019 after serving in the Australian Army as a Combat Engineer from 2010-2019. David Completed a Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques in 2017 and a Diploma of Laboratory Technology in 2018.

Area of Interest
David currently conducts molecular surveillance of genetic mutations that enable the malaria parasite to evade detection on rapid diagnostic tests as well as mutations that enable the parasites to become drug resistant. This work is critical to inform the WHO, NGOs, Ministry of Health in collaborating countries, as well as the Australian and US military on malaria diagnosis and treatment policies to better detect and treat patients with malaria parasites.
